Consulate appointment
We had our consulate appointment this morning. Jason, our guide, took our stuff to the consulate for us. Everything looked good and we will have Rylan’s passport back and with his visa tomorrow! We’ll go to the consulate tomorrow afternoon and take the oath.
Today we went to the Chen Clan academy. It is Jackie Chan’s family that used to own this place. It’s supposed to be the best preserved place in Guangzhou. It was pretty nice to look around. We also went to a Buddhist temple and then to an arts and crafts market.
At the temple, there is a structure that you try to throw a coin into. If you get it through the window, you get happiness for a year, if you get it all the way through (through the window on the other side), you get double happiness. Trent and I both got the coin all the way through on our first try. After you throw the coin through, you then touch all the dragon’s heads. Here’s a picture of Trent touching the dragon’s heads and also one of the 3 Buddhas in the temple, one for past, one for present, and one for future.
